Carvers mission is to equip all learners for global competitiveness by leading strategic partnerships with schools and communities that advance excellence and growth opportunities. Carver operates over 60+ programs for more than 3,000 K-12 students in before-school, after-school, summer, and community initiatives. Programs engage students across all K-12 public schools in Norwalk, Side by Side Charter School, Classical Studies Magnet Academy in Bridgeport, four public elementary schools in Bridgeport, Naugatuck High School, Stamford High School, and the Carver Community Center; also include paid internships for high school students. Aligned with in-school curricula and led by certified teachers from within the students schools, these programs provide essential support, ensuring students advance to the next grade level with the knowledge and skills necessary for success.

Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Serving norwalk youth and families since 1938, and deploying afterschool programs into norwalk public schools since 2008, carver today is the largest provider of afterschool programs for middle and high school students in norwalk, serving more than 1,000 students the past academic year. Carver's youth development program is conducted in the carver cummunity center, in norwalk's four middle and two high schools, and in norwalk's side by side charter school. Carver's elementary programs are conducted in the carver community center, in brookside elementary school and tracey elementary school. Carver also offers college scholarship funds; conducts 6 separate summer learning programs, reaching more than 600 young people; parent programs; health and wellness programming; in state fall college tours, national college tours and much more for the benefit of the larger norwalk community.
