The charlotte hungerford hospital provides quality medical healthcare regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. Our mission is to serve the community with respect to with the hospital's commitment to serve all members of the community, free care and/or subsidized care, care provided to persons covered by governmental programs at below cost, health activities and programs to support the community will be considered where the need and/or an individual's inability to pay coexist. These activities include wellness programs, community education programs, special progams for the elderly, handicapped, the medically underserved and a variety of broad community support activities.
To provide quality, compassionate and cost effective healthcare to the community of Northwestern Connecticut.

“On December 14, 2023, the Board of Directors of The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (the "Corporation") approved an amendment and restatement of the Corporation's Certificate of Incorporation, (the "Amended and Restated Certificate"). The Amended and Restated Certificate includes an amendment to Section 10 regarding indemnification. 1. Section 10 regarding indemnification has been updated to include that the Corporation may provide resolution unless indemnification is otherwise mandated as set forth in the Bylaws.”

“The hospital's board has adopted the policy of the member, Hartford HealthCare Corporation (HHC). HHC's Conflict of Interest Policy (Policy) requires all covered individuals, including board members and officers, to provide a disclosure of relationships that create or have the appearance of creating a conflict of interest or commitment. The Policy requires updates if changes in circumstances arise during the year that either (a) create a new potential conflict of interest or commitment or (b) change or eliminate a conflict of interest or commitment previously disclosed. Conflict of interest disclosure statements are maintained by the HHC Office of Compliance and Integrity (OCI). Employee and physician disclosures are reviewed by OCI in collaboration with the Covered Individuals' supervisor, when deemed appropriate, to determine if there is a potential conflict. The following steps were taken: - The use of an Independent Executive Compensation Committee (Committee) of the Board of Directors of Hartford HealthCare, on behalf of The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital established and regularly reviews Executive Compensation Philosophy; - The Committee regularly reviews scope and depth of positions taking into account complexity and the financial impact and accountability of all "disqualified persons; - National peer groups are selected for comparative purposes based on organizational size, operating revenue, geography and other relevant factors; - Analysis of current total compensation versus market is performed by independent third party compensation consulting firm and is then reviewed by the committee; - Recommendations are made based on market data analysis to ensure appropriate competitive positioning within parameters of compensation philosophy; -The President & CEO compensation is reviewed by the Committee and is based on comparative market information and organizational performance; - All changes are reviewed and approved by the Executive Compensation Committee; The compensation determination process for the President & CEO is reviewed on an annual basis. All other executive compensation is regularly reviewed for scope and depth of positions taking into account complexity and the financial impact and accountability.”

“The Hospital has adopted investment and spending policies for endowment assets that attempt to provide a predictable stream of funding to mission related programs such as those described in Part III, lines 4a-d while seeking to maintain purchasing power of the endowment assets. Under this policy, the endowment assets are invested in a manner that is intended to produce a real return, net of inflation and investment management costs, of at least 4% over the long term. Your provider works with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to best meet your needs. Treatment can include medication services, as well as group, individual, couples, and family therapy. Treatment interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement, medication evaluation and management, and relapse prevention.Our goals to manage psychiatric, behavioral, emotional, and substance use symptoms include:*Assist in developing successful coping and stress management skills.*Provide medication evaluation and monitoring as needed.*Assist in the transition to and from higher levels of care, such as Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs.*Help in developing communication, leisure, and relational skills to improve overall quality of life and functioning.*Assistance in connecting with local resources and supports to create a supportive network for recovery and wellness.Current weekly groups offered:*Women's Wellness*Mother's Wellness/Post-Partum Support*Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Groups for Anxiety and Depression*Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Groups*Dual Recovery and Relapse Prevention*Young Adult Support Group*Positive Living Support Group for chronic medical conditionsDuring FY24, BHC had 18,242 cases with an average length of stay of 7.8 days. |
