“Junior achievement is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a global economy. We envision a world where young people have the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities. As a solution provider, junior achievement of greater fairfield county (jagfc) works with local youth and community members to achieve greater social and economic equity. Ja's student experiences for young people focus on three pathways: financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship. Through relevant and innovative programs taught by volunteer role models, we provide the bridge from education to workforce. We act as connectors between youth and business leaders, who are role models for students as they lead programs. Combining mentorship with skills building, our interventions help to boost economic mobility and build generational wealth. While junior achievement programs are beneficial to all k-12 students, regardless of demographic, jagfc places an emphasis on youth who have a greater risk of dropping out of school and are less likely to achieve economic self-suffiency. Through three strategic approaches, increasing financial security through financial literacy; narrowing the income gap through career and work readiness;and leveling the playing field through entrepreneurship, our aim is to encourage economic empowerment.”
