Each organization pays dues to participate in the scientific discussions of the scientific members who must apply for membership. There are two classes of members in each category voting and non-voting.”

Each organization pays dues to participate in the scientific discussions of the scientific members who must apply for membership. There are two classes of members in each category voting and non-voting. The Executive Committee which operates as the corporations Board of Directors is chosen by the President per the corporate bylaws. The President is elected by the voting members of the membership every four years. The immediate past-president serves as the Treasurer for that term. The President serves as the corporations Secretary.”

“The corporation has had a conflict of interest policy in effect since its inception. This requires all scientific members not just directors and officers to declare significant interests that may have an effect on the real or perceived objectivity of their statements and presentations. These are completed and reviewed annually and distributed as part of the materials for each meeting. As this scientific community is a small one and its members are well-known to each other any failure to forthrightly state ones connection with another enterprise would be readily apparent and the statement of conflicts called into question.In addition the state of New Hampshire requires a separate statement with stricter limits from all directors regarding financial dealings with the organization.”

“The contract for the Executive Director is reviewed by the Board of Directors very four years. Compensation is determined on similar positions within the Transfusion Medicine industry along with the duties performed. The Directors and Officers are not compensated only reimbursed for travel and other corporate business-related expenses.”
