Bethesda Center of Excellence DBA Potomac Whitewater Racing Center

The mission of the Bethesda Center of Excellence Inc. DBA Potomac Whitewater Racing (PWRC) is to promote the sport of slalom canoe and kayak racing, including providing high-quality year-round whitewater slalom training to PWRC athletes. RACES: PWRC hosted and organized the 2017 Whitewater Canoe Slalom US National Championships at the Olympic level whitewater course in Dickerson, MD. This event drew almost 50 athletes and 100 spectators from around the country, who came to participate in and watch a day of slalom and BoaterCross races. PWRC also hosted and organized a community slalom race that drew 25 local paddlers to the Feeder Canal at Lock 6 of the C&O Canal, as well as a second slalom race at Dickerson that drew 40 paddlers from around the country. COACHING: PWRC coaches provide year-round instruction in whitewater slalom canoe and kayak on the Feeder Canal in Bethesda and the Dickerson whitewater course, as well as at the David Taylor Model basin in the winter.
