Officers, employees and/or agents must disclose any relationships or conflicts for all vendor selection processes in which they are involved. If a conflict of interest is present, all officers, employees and/or agents with any interest should refrain from participating in the selection, award, and/or administration of that particular contract to procure goods and/or services. All members of the board of directors are asked to review the conflict of interest policy and to sign and date it.

The board of directors approves the riphi budget, including salaries for all officers. Salaries have been benchmarked to local and national averages for organizations with comparable budgets and growth patterns. These decisions are made by the rihphi executive committee and then voted on by the full board of directors.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The institute is a not-for-profit charitable organization exempt from federal income taxes as va public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Management believes that the institute operates in a manner consistent with their tax-exempt status at both the federal and state levels. The institute annually file irs form 990 - return of organization exempt from income tax, reporting various information that the irs uses to monitor the activities of tax-exempt entities. These informational tax returns are subject to review by the taxing authorities, generally for three years after they were filed. The corporation has elected to have its income taxed under provisions of subchapter c of the internal revenue code. Subchapter c provides that the corporation is taxed on the entity's taxable income. For the year ended december 31, 2024, the corporation had no taxable activity. The organization currently has no tax examinations in progress.

Part X, Line 2

The organization evaluates all significant tax positions as required by accounting principles generally accepted in the united states. As of year-end, the organization does not belieive it has taken any tax positions that would require the recognition of a tax liability or any unrealized tax benefit that would either increase or decrease with the next twelve months. Tax years that are open for examiniation by taxing authorities are generally the last three tax year-ends after the filing of the returns.
