For youth development - childcare and camp programsthe ymca of greater providence is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. For that reason, we help young people cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement. Our ymca programs, like championing our students and reading intervention and enrichment, offer a range of experiences that address cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance that make participation possible for many of the more than 5,000 children we engage.y child care programs strengthen the family unit by providing convenient, affordable, accessible child care for 2,586 children. The ymca's high quality child care programs utilize a well-developed curriculum which is delivered by professionally trained staff in safe surroundings. Children are provided a stimulating environment in which they can learn, develop healthy lifestyles, improve their social and emotional skills, and grow to their fullest potential. Child care runs the range from infant and preschool day programs to before and after school care for school age and middle school age children. Out of school time programming is a cornerstone to the services we provide young people, particularly in urban settings where there is a dearth of learning opportunities outside of the public school classroom. With a focus on our commitment to social responsibility, the ymca is able to support families who might not otherwise be able to afford child care through a wide range of fundraising activities. Many of our participating families receive some form of public assistance and the y itself offers financial assistance and scholarships. We don't believe any child should be turned away from quality child care. Y day camp also offers a positive, educational, and supervised alternative for 2,398 children ages 3-15 during the summer. Ymca camps strive to create a safe and caring community for all participating youth. All children are welcomed and accepted. Every day offers new experiences, the chance to develop new skills and the opportunity to make new friends. The ymca of greater providence offers camps with varied focuses, such as nature, sports, art, theater, music, horseback, computer, gymnastics, and leadership development. All of our programs are designed to encourage group participation, cooperation, build self-confidence and allow children to develop individual interests. Children receive a well-balanced experience, by having both their physical and emotional needs met. Ymca of greater providence camps are operated by each of our branches in rhode island and nearby massachusetts and are open to children ages 3 to 17. Many camps offer extended-care options, which make them a great choice for working parents.our camp staff is made up of individuals committed to making the experience fun, safe and memorable.
