Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Management has concluded that any tax positions that would not meet the more-likely-than-not criterion of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Topic 740-10, Accounting for Income Taxes, would be immaterial to the financial statements taken as a whole. Accordingly, the accompanying financial statements do not include any provision for uncertain tax positions, and no related interest or penalties have been record in the statement of activities or accrued in the statement of financial position. Federal and state tax returns of the entity are generally open to examination by the relevant taxing authorities for a period of three years from the date the returns are filed.

IRS990/Desc0The High School Program: On-campus Higher Education Advisors provide one-on-oneinteractive sessions to guide students through comprehensive college application, enrollment and funding processes. Students have access to advisors daily during the school year. With this support, a college-going community is created among greatly under-served students who will most likely be the first in their families to go to college. To date, over 120,000 students and their families have completed the college process. EIF was awarded as one of the 10 best College Access organizations in the country by the Education Policy Institute. The National College Access Network gave EIF their Award of Excellence.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0The Mayors Intern Fellows Program: With this EIF-developed program, ElF partners with the Dallas Mayors office to provide paid summer internships with Dallas top companies and organizations to foster comprehensive job skills training and professional development. Along with providing the internships, EIF has facilitated over 21,700 hours of workforce development training. The belief is that with career exposure, workforce readiness skills, and postsecondary education, these students will become productive members of the workforce, and thus, the community.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0College Persistence: With one-on-one support, EIF seeks to reduce or eliminate the hurdles students face once they arrive on their new campuses thanks to their on-site College Persistence Coordinator. They continue to provide services through the sophomore year to solidify the potential for success. On one of the two campuses with on-site coordinators, 93% of the students working with EIF have re-enrolled in college for year two. (National numbers show college persistence at about 70%.) Remote advisors serve at just over a dozen other universities with dedicated help phone lines, e-mails, newsletters, social media communications, resource support and professional development.
