Activity 2

Accountability - mbae has represented the business community on the state's accountability and assistance advisory council for the past six years and has been instrumental in developing new approaches to hold school districts accountable for performance. We also have hosted an online resource to provide educators, parents and concerned citizens with access to multi-year data in all subjects that illuminates the "opportunity" gaps between schools with the same demographics. The purpose of this site is to help inform and to promote the use of data to improve learning.

Activity 3

Education reform - mbae is celebrating its 25th anniversary, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of education reforms developed by the organization based on high standards and accountability in return for funding to meet these demands. This compact has propelled massachusetts to the top of the nation on many measures of education progress yet unacceptable socio-economic and racial achievement gaps persist. Mbae therefore spent much of this year planning and beginning a major project to assess the status of education attainment in the commonwealth, explore what other high performing states and nations are doing, and produce recommendations for accelerating progress in education reform in massachusetts
