Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1:

We design and research digital tools, simulations, and curricula for science, math, engineering, data science, and computer science. All resources are free and open source. We also design professional learning experiences that help teachers integrate open-source digital tools into instruction, strengthening student engagement and stem readiness. Our work serves educators and learners across formal k-14 and informal settings. The common online data analysis platform (codap.concord.org) empowers students to explore and visualize data in multiple, open-ended, inquiry-based ways. In fy25, over 65,000 educators subscribed to our e-news communications channels for resources, research updates, and opportunities to participate in pilots. Our digital library, learn.concord.org, features over 375 scientifically accurate models and activities, freely available and used annually by over 100,000 teachers and over 1.5 million learners globally. In total, there are over 2 million active users across our products. Our network of partners includes schools and districts across the country. We also collaborate with ed tech companies and publishers to incorporate simulations into assessments, curricula, and digital platforms, extending the reach and impact of next-generation stem learning tools.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The board of directors assumes responsibility for the oversight of the audit of its financial statements and selection of the independent accounting firm.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) - WE INTEGRATE AI INTO STEM LEARNING TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY, PROMOTE STUDENT INQUIRY, AND BUILD STUDENT UNDERSTANDING OF THE CORE CONCEPTS AND ENGINEERING DRIVING AI SYSTEMS. IN FY 2025, WE DEVELOPED DAVAI (DATA ANALYSIS THROUGH VOICE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE), A VOICE-INTERACTIVE CODAP PLUGIN THAT ALLOWS BLIND AND LOW-VISION LEARNERS TO ENGAGE IN DATA EXPLORATION INDEPENDENTLY. WE ALSO DESIGNED A NEW DIGITAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE EXPLORING HOW AI CONNECTS STUDENTS TO REAL-WORLD MATH PROBLEMS FOR VIRTUAL SCHOOLS AND CONNECTED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH MENTORS TO STUDY MACHINE LEARNING IN HEALTHCARE.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0INNOVATIVE STEM SIMULATIONS - THE CONCORD CONSORTIUM CREATES SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE VIRTUAL SIMULATIONS THAT MAKE COMPLEX TOPICS VISIBLE AND ABSTRACT TOPICS TANGIBLE. IN FY 2025, WE RELEASED NEW MODELS, INCLUDING LAVACODER, WHICH LETS STUDENTS SIMULATE VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS USING BLOCK-BASED PROGRAMMING AND A BIONIC ARM THAT OFFERS AN INTERACTIVE EXPLORATION OF BIOLOGICAL CONTROL SYSTEMS AND ENGINEERING DESIGN. THESE RESOURCES SUPPORT INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING FOR STUDENTS WORLDWIDE. OUR WEBSITE LEARN.CONCORD.ORG OFFERS OVER 375 FREE, RESEARCH-BASED SIMULATIONS THAT IMMERSE STUDENTS IN AUTHENTIC STEM PRACTICES.
