OUR MISSION IS TO MAKE THESE RIGHTS A REALITY BY WORKING SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH RESIDENTS AND TRAINING THEM IN THE SKILLS AND KNOW-HOW THEY NEED TO RUN EFFECTIVE LOCAL CAMPAIGNS TO PROTECT THEIR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT. WE MAKE AN EFFORT TO LEAVE COMMUNITIES STRONGER THAN WE FIND THEM AND TO DEVELOP LONG-TERM CIVIC LEADERS OUT OF PEOPLE WHO OFTEN HAVE NEVER ENGAGED IN ANY POLITICAL WORK BEFORE. OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS, TOXICS ACTION CENTER HAS ASSISTED MORE THAN 700 NEW ENGLAND COMMUNITIES REPRESENTING APPROXIMATELY 10,000 INDIVIDUALS IN CLEANING UP HAZARDOUS WASTE SITES, REDUCING INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION, CURBING PESTICIDE USE, ENSURING HEALTHY LAND USE, PROMOTING CLEAN ENERGY AND ZERO WASTE, AND OPPOSING DANGEROUS WASTE, ENERGY AND INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES. WE HAVE OFFICES IN ALL SIX NEW ENGLAND STATES.
