Massachusetts clubhouse coalition is a non-profit education and advocacy organization, committed to helping people with mental illness live successfully in their community. This mission is accomplished by helping members and staff of clubhouse communities, which provide comprehensive employment and recovery services, grow and thrive. This mission is achieved through education, leadership development, advocacy and networking with community partners to secure resources and expand opportunities that promote the enhancement of services and wellbeing of members. The mcc is committed to the promotion of the evidenced-based practice, iccd clubhouse model as defined by the international standards, clubhouse international and the substance abuse and mental health services administration (samhsa). 1. Mcc helps improve and expand employment opportunities and services for members of ma clubhouses, all of whom have serious mental illness, while combating the stigma of mental illness. This is achieved by honoring and engaging employers of clubhouse members to expand employment opportunities and working with members and staff of ma clubhouses to help members achieve employment. Over 25 employers have been engaged as leaders in an effort to expand employment. Mcc holds educational forums, monthly and annual conferences in addition to public recognition events and individual meetings with employers to expand employment opportunities. Mcc works to educate about employment best practices and develop member leadership toward helping members advocate for resources to help them gain employment. 2. The mcc dual recovery project supports the leadership of those who are helping to form, develop and expand dual recovery anonymous (dra) meetings in the commonwealth of massachusetts. These meetings are twelve-step addiction recovery meetings for those who are working to recover from mental illness and addictions. The mcc currently supports the leadership of over 45 ma dra meetings. The mcc also provides addiction recovery education for those who have dual illnesses or are working to support those working towards recovery. 3. Mcc helps educate the community about people who are working to recover from mental illness, combating the stigma of the illnesses and our members needs for community supports. Mcc is working to help our member clubhouses become quality accredited by an accrediting body called clubhouse international. This commitment to clubhouse accreditation was made because research shows that members get better services with higher outcomes in terms of employment, community tenure and well-being when services are provided by quality accredited clubhouses. Mcc has a membership committee to help ma clubhouses achieve quality accreditation. This means, helping to expand employment, develop member leadership and providing education on how to follow the international clubhouse standards of excellence.
