Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In an effort to capitalize on all of these natural and man-made resources, destination plymouth publishes three (3) brochures (two promotional and one collateral) and provides services for group advertising opportunities directed toward destination marketing. Additionally, destination plymouth operates the official town of plymouth information center at the plymouth waterfront and provides further promotional opportunities for its members at that location. Destination plymouth also provides hospitality training and plymouth-area attraction, history and familiarization sessions. All of these activities are expected to continue in future years. Publication of promotional pieces: the plymouth area vacation guide this is a full color brochure, distributed to hotels and other "first stop" locations and includes photographs of major area attractions and activities, a how to get to plymouth area map, a pilgrim path type map (including self-guided walking and guided tour information), public transportation information and spaces for restaurant listings. The plymouth area vacation planner this publication, which is three times larger than the vacation guide, is distributed to selected regional brochure racks, travel agencies, fulfillment requests and the plymouth information center. It includes everything from the vacation guide plus a pictorial/narrative listing of hotels, attractions and other entities and activities of interest to visitors. It also includes information describing restaurants and shops in the area. The plymouth area dining & activities guide this brochure contains menus and listings of all area restaurants, attractions, activities, various paid advertisements and the pilgrim path type map. It is distributed to area hotels, for in-room use, shops, major attractions and the plymouth information center. Plymouth and plymouth area visitor maps these maps are published as part of the plymouth area dining & activities guide and show in detail the location of important sites and features of plymouth and the surrounding region, including duxbury, middleboro and the cape cod canal area. Operation of the plymouth visitors' information center as the approved operator of the information center, destination plymouth provides toll-free information request telephone lines, a centralized reservation system for area hotels, package tours, package airline/hotel arrangements, fulfillment services in response to individual and media requests and serves as a general information resource for visitors to the town of plymouth,. The information center also sells gifts, maps, books, souvenirs, etc. To the general public. Destination plymouth operates the visitors' information center under contract with the town of plymouth. The visitors' information center building is located on the plymouth waterfront and is owned by the town of plymouth, money from the sales of subscriptions, tickets and merchandise is used to defray the costs of operating the center on behalf of the town of plymouth. Subscription income this income is for money received from non-member businesses and non-profit organizations to allow them to post information on their bed & boards, retail businesses, etc. In the visitors' information center. Sales of tickets because the visitors' information center is conveniently located on the plymouth waterfront and is visited by thousands of tourists and because plymouth area tourist attractions are spread out over several miles, many of these museums, historic houses, etc. Such as plimoth plantation, plymouth national wax museum, the mayflower, etc., allow the visitors' information center to sell tickets to their attractions to these tourists. Destination plymouth is paid a small fee from the sale of each ticket. Sales of merchandise merchandise carried in the visitors' information center is sold to tourists visiting the town of plymouth. Most of the merchandise is related to the historical importance of the town of plymouth and surrou
