Founded in 1991, is183 art school of the berkshires is a nonprofit community art school encouraging peaople of all ages, means and skill levels to enrich their lives through hands on experience in the visual arts. The art school's reach extends throughout berkshire county and neighboring states to attract 2,500 people per year to year-round programs in ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber arts, sculpture, animation, mixed media, photography, collage, jewelry, and more for children, teens and adults at locations throughout berkshire county. With the learning through arts program, launched in 2007, is183 brings an innovative arts educatons curriculum to more than 1,250 area elementary, middle and high school students which promotes creative thinking, problem solving, experimentation and collaboration - skills that resonate long after students have left the classroom.
