MACRIL, Inc.s primary purpose since inception has been to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently. We endeavor to provide support to such adults and their families and caregivers so that each adult who is intellectually or developmentally challenged may experience independent living, expand his or her horizons, and have the opportunity to reach his/her full potential. We assist with implementing residential programs that are set up as condominiums with full-time staffing that permit groups of disabled adults to function as independently as possible in a cooperative living situation. We have supported, and continue to support, parents and guardians of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in starting more than thirteen private group homes in the New England area based on this concept. In 2015, MACRIL, Inc. reimbursed the costs of Specialized Housing Inc. for a van rental and transportation for eight individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to attend the annual conference of Mass Advocates Standing Strong (M.A.S.S.) held on October 17, 2015 entitled "Self Determination: The Will to Achieve". The all-day conference was held at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, MA and included a number of educational programs, guest speakers and guidance on various areas of interest to adults with such disabilities. M.A.S.S. is a statewide self-advocacy organization founded by individuals with cognitive and developmental challenges whose goal is to empower adults with these challenges through education so that each may make choices to enrich his or her life. Reimbursement of expenses was made after submission of receipts.$590-
In 2015, MACRIL, Inc. continued to sell copies of "Passport to Independence", a manual for young adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and their families that provides guidance on legal and financial planning and other available resources to help adults achieve their independence and to flourish in the community. The printing of this manual was originally underwritten by Macril. It is sold for $20 (discounts available for volume purchases). Proceeds are used to fund other activities of MACRIL or invested.$483-
