Mission

In keeping with the basic philosophy and spirit of the center's namesake, saint louis guanella, the center strives to promote and protect the basic human dignity of all persons regardless of their disabilities. Each person is to be cared for and treated with christ-like respect, compassion, gentleness, and understanding. We are committed to support each person with a holistic program which supports the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each and every one of our guests.

To provide emergency residential and short-term respite services to developmentally delayed women over eighteen.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

The center's board of directors voted to terminate the operations of the center effective june 30, 2014. On june 30, 2014, the daughters of st. Mary of providence (the order) entered into a purchase and sale agreement with another nonprofit organization to sell the facility it owned and had been leasing to the center. As part of this agreement, the purchasing organization required $50,000 to be paid for required repairs to the property. The center agreed to pay this cost on behalf of the order as maintaining the property and all repairs was a responsibility of the center under the lease agreement with the order. In addition, the purchasing organization applied for, and was awarded the commonwealth service contracts previously held by the center effective july 1, 2014. The center elected to transfer, free of charge, all furniture, equipment and other property to the successor organization. The center plans to officially dissolve the corporation during fiscal year 2015 as all significant activity ceased as of june 30, 2014. Any remaining net assets available upon dissolution will become the property of the order.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The center accounts for uncertainty in income taxes in accordance with asc topic income taxes. This standard clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in tax positions and prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement regarding a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. The center has determined that there are no uncertain tax positions which qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements at june 30, 2014 the center's information returns are subject to examination by the federal and state jurisdictions and generally remain open for the most recent three years.

AS PART OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE PURCHASING ORGANIZATION REQUIRED $50,000 TO BE PAID FOR REQUIRED REPAIRS TO THE PROPERTY. THE CENTER AGREED TO PAY THIS COST ON BEHALF OF THE ORDER AS MAINTAINING THE PROPERTY AND ALL REPAIRS WAS A RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CENTER UNDER THE LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE ORDER. IN ADDITION, THE PURCHASING ORGANIZATION APPLIED FOR, AND WAS AWARDED THE COMMONWEALTH SERVICE CONTRACTS PREVIOUSLY HELD BY THE CENTER EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2014. THE CENTER ELECTED TO TRANSFER, FREE OF CHARGE, ALL FURNITURE, EQUIPMENT AND OTHER PROPERTY TO THE SUCCESSOR ORGANIZATION. THE CENTER PLANS TO OFFICIALLY DISSOLVE THE CORPORATION DURING FISCAL YEAR 2015 AS ALL SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITY CEASED AS OF JUNE 30, 2014. ANY REMAINING NET ASSETS AVAILABLE UPON DISSOLUTION WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE ORDER.
