Supplemental Narrative

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The institute qualifies as a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code ("the code") and, accordingly, is not subject to federal income taxes. However, the institute is subject to a federal excise tax, not to exceed 2% of net investment income, including realized gains, as defined in the code. There was no federal excise tax payments for the year ended june 30, 2014. Income taxes are reported in accordance with the income tax return filings. Under generally accepted accounting principles, the amount reported would be based on probability assessments of the likelihood that certain deductions would be disallowed upon examination because the taxing authorities interpreted existing guidance differently. The institute's income tax returns are subject to examination by taxing authorities generally for the years ended june 30, 2013, 2012, and 2011. The institute recognizes interest and penalties, if any, related to unrecognized tax benefits in operating expenses. There were no interest or penalties recognized for the 2013 tax year.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE INSTITUTE QUALIFIES AS A TAX-EXEMPT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE ("THE CODE") AND, ACCORDINGLY, IS NOT SUBJECT TO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES.
