“A town meeting vote was held on June 15, 2020 to approve the inclusion of the Library as a Town Department effective July 1, 2021 and absorb the Library assets. As a Town Department, the Library would benefit from cost savings of using existing town resources rather than paying third-party vendors, and could also be a more competitive employer for library professionals. In anticipation of the inclusion, on January 11, 2021, we voted to voluntarily dissolve the Library as a separate corporation. On December 9, 2021, the Massachusetts Attorneys General approved the Town by-law change. The Library plans to forthwith transfer the remaining assets and dissolve the corporation.”
