To promote the industrial, commercial, civic and cultural welfare of the greater springfield, ma area; to deal with matters of common interest to mercantile, manufacturing, commerical and professional groups; to encourage local businesses and to assist in attracting and securing the location of new businesses within the area; to encourage and promote a non-partisan interest in, and study of, the activities of governmental agencies and their effect on taxpayers with a view toward obtaining economy and efficiency in such activities; to encourage, coordinate and finance the activities of other civic agencies and corporations engaged in pursuing similar objects and purposes.
