Activity 2

Y child carethe y provided quality, licensed, nationally accredited care to 820 toddler, pre-school and school aged children in 2012. The purpose of the y's child care programs is to foster growth and development for children as well as their parents. These educational programs help develop and support cognitive and academic growth and learning, and help kids develop moral and ethical behavior, self-esteem and leadership skills. The y is the largest provider of out of school time care programs and a significant provider of early education and care programs in the metrowest area.in many instances, y child care makes it possible for the parents of children in our programs to become and remain gainfully employed, knowing that their children are thriving in a safe, developmentally sound environment. For parents who cannot afford the full fee, care is provided below cost, based on a sliding fee scale up to the limit of contributed support and funding available for subsidies. 23% of the participating families receive y financial assistance, with an additional 17% receiving tuition support through the state funded contract and voucher program. Y financial assistance for child care program participants in 2012 totaled $226,183.

Activity 3

Y summer campy summer camps served 1,906 different children in 2012, 1 out of 9 of whom attended camp with the support of y funded financial assistance. The summer camp programs, serving children between the ages of 3 and 15 are educational, promote mental and physical well-being, self esteem, social growth and respect for the environment. Through a variety of activities and the use of natural surroundings, y camps seek to help participants achieve their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body. In many instances, camping programs serve as child care for parents in the summertime, allowing them to remain gainfully employed. Summer camp financial assistance totaled $183,041 in 2012.
