Harvard Student Agencies, Inc. was incorporated on September 10, 1957, underMassachusetts law to "conduct business enterprises for the benefit ofstudents of Harvard University who are in need of financial assistance todefray the expenses of their education; to employ such students in theconduct of such enterprises:...to perform all of its activities primarilyfor the benefit and convenience of the students, faculty members andemployees of Harvard University subject to the control of the facultymembers, administrative personnel and students of Harvard University throughthe Board of Directors of the Corporation...to contribute to, and further,the educational program of Harvard University;."The income from the business enterprises (agencies) is considered to be totally exempt in accordance with Reg 1.513 (e) (2) of the code except forthose instances where goods and services are provided to the general publicThe following agencies

To conduct business enterprises for the benefit of students of harvard university who are in need of financial assistance to defray the expenses of their education. Insofar as permitted under g. L..c 180, to conduct and supervise enterprises for the benefit of students of harvard university who are in need of financial assistance to defray the expenses of their educations: to provide opportunities for such students to be gainfully employed; to study, cultivate, promote and encourage new business ventures to afford additional employment opportunities for such students; to provide experience for members in the practical management and conduct of the business affairs; to foster, encourage and inculcate in its members qualities and habits of work, thrift and self reliance; all in close collaboration with said harvard university and its office or student employment and without profit to any of its members or any other person.
