“The library consists of a collection of books, pamphlets, maps and similar materials maintained by the Organization. Purchases of collection items are stated at cost and donated collection items are recorded at fair value at the date of accession. Collection items are not depreciated since the Organization has the means to maintain them. The Organization's collections are protected, kept unencumbered, cared for, and preserved. As a matter of policy, the proceeds of items in collections that are sold will be used to acquire other items for collections and for the direct care of collection items. The Organization considers direct care to entail actions that enhance the usefulness or quality of the collection items to ensure they will continue to benefit the public. No collection items were sold during the year ended December 31, 2024.”

“The Organization's endowment funds include both donor-restricted endowment funds and funds designated by the Board of Directors to function as endowment. As required by accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America, net asset associated with endowment funds, including funds designated by the Board of Directors to function as endowments, are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor-imposed restrictions. The Organization classifies as net assets with donor restrictions the original value of gifts donated to the endowment held in perpetuity. The remaining portion of the donor-restricted endowment fund is classified as net assets with donor restrictions until those amounts are appropriated for expenditure by the Organization's spending policy and in accordance with the original restriction on the gift. Realized and unrealized gains and losses, and investment income are allocated to each individual fund based on the relationship of its fair value to the total fair value of all investments held in the endowment using an average at the beginning and end of the calendar year. The Organization adopted investment and spending policies for endowment assets that attempt to provide a predictable stream of funding supported by its endowment by utilizing the endowment investment returns during the year while seeking to maintain the purchasing power of the endowment assets. Under this policy, as approved by the Board of Directors, the endowment assets are invested in a manner that is intended to enhance or preserve the long-term purchasing power, while assuming a moderate level of investment risk. In establishing this policy, the Organization considered the long-term expected return on its endowment. To satisfy its long-term rate-of-return objectives, the Organization utilized a total return strategy in which investment returns are achieved through both capital appreciation (realized and unrealized) and current yield (interest and dividends). The Organization targets a diversified asset allocation that places an emphasis on equity-based investments to achieve its long-term objectives within prudent risk constraints.”
