Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The council qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, and therefore, has no provision for federal income taxes. In addition, the council qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(a) and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). The council believes that there are no uncertain tax positions that would require disclosures in these financial statements. The council has evaluated significant tax positions against criteria established by professional standards and believes there are no such tax positions requiring accounting recognition in the financial statements. The council?s tax returns for the years ended june 30, 2012 through 2014 are subject to examination by the internal revenue service.

THE COUNCIL IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK.2) THE CHILD ASSAULT PREVENTION PROGRAM (CAP) IS A CURRICULUM THAT TEACHES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN SIMPLE STRATEGIES TO REDUCE THEIR VULNERABILITY TO VERBAL, PHYSICAL AND SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VIOLENCE. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS, TRAINED VOLUNTEER PREVENTION SPECIALISTS PRESENT BASIC, AGE-APPROPRIATE, SKILL-ORIENTED PREVENTION WORKSHOPS IN THE CLASSROOM. A COMPONENT FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS PREPARES ADULTS TO RESPOND TO CHILDREN WHO NEED THEIR HELP AND TO SUPPORT PROBLEM-SOLVING STRATEGIES.3) THE COUNCIL OFFERS "NEW-TO-YOU" CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES AT THE CLOTHES CLOSET AND FLEA MARKET.
