Financial Statement Notes

Part III, Line 1A: If organization elected under SFAS 116 to not report are, historical treasures, O

Collections consist of historical artifacts, archival materials, publications and other materials related to the life and legacy of Paul Revere, his family and businesses, and history of the neighborhood as reflected in the Associations three buildings. Collections acquired either through purchase or donations are not capitalized. Purchases of collection items are recorded as decreases in net assets without donor restrictions if purchased with assets without donor restrictions and as decreases in net assets with donor restrictions if purchased with assets with donor restrictions. Contributions of collection items are not recognized in the statement of activities. Proceeds from deaccessions or insurance recoveries are used solely for future additions to the museums collection or for the direct care of existing collections. Direct care includes any enhancement to the life, usefulness or quality of the existing collection, thereby ensuring it will continue to benefit the public. The proceeds would be reflected on the statement of activities based on the absence or existence and nature of donor-imposed restrictions.Donations and acquisitions of collections are not required to be recognized since they are added to collections that are held for public exhibition and education in furtherance of public service rather than financial gain; are protected, kept unencumbered, cared for, and preserved; and are subject to a policy that requires the proceeds from sales of collection items to be used to acquire other items for collections or for the direct care of collections.

Part III, Line 4: Description of organization'S collections and how it furthers its purpose.

The PRMA's policy is to collect artifacts, archival materials, publications and other materials related to the life and legacy of Paul Revere and his descendants, the social and architectural history of the Revere and Hichborn houses, the historyof the PRMA, and objects illustrative of American urban life in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The PRMA's objective is to collect only those objects which it is able to care for, store and exhibit in accordance with professional museum standards. Collections are used to furnish the historic interiors of the Paul Revere house and the Hichborn house, to create theme based exhibits on and off-site, and to aid scholars doing research.
