“There are four categories of membership: regular members: this category includes any sole proprietor, partnership, corporation, or other business entity having legal existence to do business in the united states. These will be voting members. Associate members: this category includes those companies not based in the u.s. They are entitled to all the rights and privileges of regular membership except the right to vote or hold office on the board of directors. Associate members may serve on committees. Captains/senior officer membership: this classification membership consists of individuals employed in the superyacht industry. They are entitled to all the rights and privileges of regular membership, except that they do not have the right to vote of hold office on the board of directors. Captain/senior officer members may serve on committees. Companies/individuals who have rendered exemplary service to the industry and/or the association. They are entitled to all the rights and privileges of regular membership. Except that they do not have the right to vote or hold office on the board of directors. Honorary membership is reviewed annually and re-approved by the executive committee and/or the board of directors. Honorary members may serve on committees.”

“The executive committee appoints a nominating committee to select a slate of officers and members to run for board of directors. The nominating committee consists of the vice chairman (serving as chair of the committee), one other member of the executive committee, and a minimum of at least three other non-board members of the association. The election of board members takes place at least ten days prior to the annual meeting. The board of directors provides a voting method to ensure that ballots are cast in such a manner to ensure that only regular members in good standing are permitted to vote. In the event there is more than one candidate for any officer or board position, the winner of the election is determined by the individual with the highest vote count. If a candidate for an officer position runs unopposed, that person shall be considered elected. The term of all officers is for one year, starting from november 1, or until their successors have been chosen. Each director serves a two-year term beginning november 1. Any person elected to the board of directors may serve for no more than three consecutive terms. Officers and members of the board may be removed for cause by a majority vote of the members of the association present at any regular or special meeting, following 30 days notice of just cause delivered to all members.”
