Mission

Connect is dedicated to the prevention and elimination of family and gender violence and to the creation of safe families and peaceful communities.connect transforms the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that perpetuate gender and family violence and addresses these complex issues through prevention, early intervention services and community empowerment.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Community empowerment program (cep): a unique program that focuses on domestic violence prevention in communities through a multi-faceted program design that incorporates transformative education, strengthening of existing infrastructures, network building, community-focused capacity building and assistance with the development of resources.
Activity 3
Reinventing manhood program (remap) is a two year youth violence prevention program with young men of color who have previously dropped out of high school. Remap goals are to foster pro-active decision making and non-violent conflict resolution skills, provide opportunities to foster healthy masculine identities, provide activities that build job/life skills and reinforce community-mindedness and foster a belief in success as opposed to negative media stereotypes. Students will brainstorm, role-play, and weigh the potential consequences of imagined actions while helping professionals design a game about street violence. Once developed remap will be made available to and can be replicated in any school with a computer lab.
