“Members of Baba Neem Karoli Satsang (BNKS) began congregating in Greater Cleveland, Ohio as a church family in 1998 and formally incorporated as a church and nonprofit organization in 2002. Beginning in 2006, after receiving a letter of determination of 501(c)3 status from the IRS, BNKS began a decades long ministry of service to economically challenged individuals, initiating numerous volunteer based programs in an effort to lessen their nutritional insecurity. BNKS has served tens of thousands of unique individuals vegetarian foods totaling many millions of pounds. We currently operate a prepared foods program, distributing plant based meals, packaged to-go, at no cost to recipients. We continuously mentor and coach community partners in advancing their charitable missions. We maintain a garden Sanctuary in Cleveland, Ohio, where we distribute free food and demonstrate organic urban agriculture, collecting varietal specimens of berries and fruits. We congregate as a faith community and practice congregational singing, silent meditation, annual holidays, religious rituals and other Hindu traditions as part of the legacy of our namesake, Baba Neem Karoli.”
