Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

The center and affiliate have been recognized by the internal revenue service as not-for-profit corporations and are exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) and 501 (a)(3), respectively, of the internal revenue code on income from operations related to their tax exempt purpose, and therefore, have made no provision for federal income taxes in the accompanying combined financial statements. The center and affiliate are both classified as public charities. The center follows the fasb accounting standards codification, which provides guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an organization's combined financial statements. The center's policy is to recognize interest and penalties on unrecognized tax benefits in income tax expense in the combined financial statements. The center's income tax returns are subject to examination by the internal revenue service and state and local taxing authorities, generally for a period of three years after the returns are filed.
