Mission

The mission of Turning Points Network is to enhance the safety and well-being of victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and stalking through empowerment and advocacy to create a community responsive to all victims and survivors through education, outreach and accountability and to empower the community to establish a safer culture.

TPN works to end domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Sullivan County NH through direct services and prevention education. Direct services include crisis intervention as well as support for healing 24 hours

Program Service Expenses 2,500, Grants and allocations 0, Revenue 0 LAKE SUNAPEE AREA MEDIATION - Provides an alternative to the adversarial process of litigation and the resolution of disputes as related to youth/parent, family, divorce and post divorce matters. LSAM provides disputants with a confidential, safe and neutral forum in which to find and structure their own solutions to issues. LSAM is also working in area schools to teach students more effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

The Organization has been notified by the Internal Revenue Service that it is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501c 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The Organization is further classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509a3 of the Code. The most significant tax positions of The Organization are its assertion that it is exempt from income taxes and its determination of whether any amounts are subject to unrelated business tax UBIT. The Organization follows guidance of Accounting Standards Codification ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes, related to uncertain income taxes, which prescribes a threshold of more likely than not for recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. All significant tax positions have been considered by management. It has been determined that it is more likely than not that all tax positions would be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes has been recorded.

IRS990/Desc0EDUCATION- TPN provides school based prevention education programs and community based awareness, outreach and training programs. School based programs are available to students pre-school through 12th grade in all schools in Sullivan County. Programs teach youth skills to assist them with everyday challenges throughout their lives. Key topics include bullying and cyber bullying, personal safety, child sexual abuse prevention, relational aggression, respect, healthy relationships, dating violence, date rape, and work that builds a Climate of Respect throughout the school. Trainings are encouraged for staff and parents. Community based programs include trainings for other first responders, trainings at businesses on sexual harassment and domestic violence in the workplace, by-stander trainings, and general awareness programs, all focused on building a healthier community and one that is more responsive to the needs of survivors.

Services are provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a very small staff and considerable volunteer task force. Survivors choose the services they want for as long as they need. Advocates are available to assist survivors in reaching their self defined goals for safety, permanent housing, financial independence, support for their children.

Gently used clothing and household items are donated by community members TPN then sells items at a very minimal cost .50-5.00 on average. Families and individuals experiencing an unforeseen hardship, individuals living in the community homeless shelter, and individuals who need clothing for job interviews or for their children for school are able to shop for what they need at no cost or at a reduced cost.
