“The organization provides continuing education to current mediators; trains new volunteer mediators for small claims cases in johnson, linn and iowa counties, and educates citizens about mediation through its website, through correpondence and telephone calls and through court-ordered mediation education classes.”

“Introduction to mediation and domestic abuse was offered via zooml 11 registrants took the 15-hour course over four days. Required mediation education classees for all parties in divorce and custody cases continued to be offered. The course is offered on line through the association's website. Parenting classes also were offered by local agencies.”

“The roster of family mediators had 390 mediators this year. There is a separate roster in each of the six counties in the 6th justicial district. Roster mediators are assigned on a rotating basis by the court as default mediators, reduced fee mediators or mediators in contempt actions in family cases. Parties in divorce and custody cases can choose their own mediator from the court roster in their county. Four volunteers provided small claims mediation; three by day-of-pretrial conference and one by zoom. Eight new volunteeers took the 15-hour training course for small claims mediators.”
