Mission

Spruce run-womancare alliance is an organization serving primarily penobscot and piscataquis counties that exists to: a)address the needs of people affected by domestic abuse with a full range of services including safety-planning, advocacy and support; b)provide prevention, education and training to foster safe, healthy relationships; and c)engage the community in an effective, coordinated response to domestic abuse which recognizes the nature of the abuse, responds to it, and changes the conditions which lead to abuse.

We believe that every person deserves to live in peace and equality, and that just and respectful relationships can change the world. Partners for peace's mission is to engage individuals and the community to end domestic violence in penobscot and piscataquis counties. We provide support, advocacy and safety planning to anyone affected by domestic abuse. We foster safe and healthy relationships through prevention, education and training. Together with our community we recognize the nature of abuse, respond to it, and change the conditions which lead to it.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

We believe that every person deserves to live in peace and equality, and that just and respectful relationships can change the world. Partners for peace's mission is to engage individuals and the community to end domestic violence in penobscot and piscataquis counties. We provide support, advocacy and safety planning to anyone affected by domestic abuse. We foster safe and healthy relationships through prevention, education and training. Together with our community we recognize the nature of abuse, respond to it, and change the conditions which lead to it.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

4)support and education groups - we provide ongoing support groups for victims of domestic abuse in both the bangor and dover-foxcroft offices, with concurrent activity groups for children, as well as activity/support groups for children in shelter and transitional housing. Specialized groups for victims of domestic abuse run several times a year and follow a specific curriculum with themes of abuse, coping skills, parenting and healthy relationships. In fiscal year 2018, 241 individuals were served for a total of 1,152 hours. 5)transitional housing - we provide housing and supportive services at various locations in penobscot and piscataquis counties for families building a safe and peaceful life free of domestic abuse. Services include long-term safety planning, assistance in working towards goals, building economic stability, parenting support and activities for children, education, and referral to employment assistance services. In fiscal year 2018, 88 individuals were served for a total of 1,002 contacts.
