The mdi biological laboratory is a rapidly growing, independent non-profit biomedical research institution. Its mission is to improve human health and well-being through research, education,and development ventures that transform discoveries into cures.

Our work is primarily focused on enhancing our our natural ability to repair the cellular damage that occurs as we age, and on providing hands-on research training to the next generation of scientists, physicians, teachers and entrepreneurs.

Dr. Haller, an internationally recognized leader in kidney disease, hypertension and kidney and bloood vessel regeneration, is also a full professor and chairman of the division of nephrology at hannover medical school in germany. Established the william procter scientific innovation fund to honor the legacy of william procter, a businessman, entrepreneur and scientist, and to support scientific research and education programs at the mdi biological laboratory focused on translating scientific discoveries into commmercial application. Announced the formation of the morris scientific discovery fund, providing a total of 500,000 to support aging and regneration research at the mdi biological laboratory. Continued to advance scientific discovery in the fields of aging, heart regeneration, nerve regeneration and wound healing through the publication of peer-reviewed research findings in prestigious scientific journals. Received an 11 million national institutes of health (nih) center of biomedical research excellence award to support the continued growth and development of scientists working in the kathryn w. Continued to offer more than 30 courses serving more than 600 students from around the world and representing all levels of education, from high school students to science and medical professionals. Sponsored a three-part public lecture series, "live longer, live better", delivered by the nation's leading scientists in the field of aging research. Received a 100,000 sponsorship from life biosciences to fund the annual biomedical innovation course on aging at the mdi biological laboratory. Received a 1.2 million five-year science education partnership award (sepa) to promote data literacy to students and teachers. Continued a highly regarded series of outreach activities, including family science night and mdi science cafes, to engage the public in the institution's research and education programs and to promote scientific literacy.”
“The institution regularly reviews and evaluates its tax position in previously filed information returns and as is reflected in its financial statements with regard to issues affecting its tax exempt status, unrelated business income and related matters. The institution believes that in the event of an examination by taxing authorities, its position would prevail based upon technical merit of such positions.
